Broström appoints new Managing Director

We are pleased to announce that Robert Uggla will take on the position as Managing Director of Broström AB, a division in Maersk Tankers, effective from September 21st 2009.

Maersk Tankers acquired Broström in January 2009 for SEK 7.3 billion forming the world’s leading product tanker company with a combined fleet of around 275 product tanker vessels. Broström remains an individual brand responsible for the combined fleet of product tankers below 25,000 DWT, currently 85 vessels in total. The Broström head office is in Gothenburg, with a branch office in Singapore.

“Our key priority is to ensure that Broström continues as the leading brand in the small product tanker markets and that we further build on the strong Broström heritage. Robert has proven management skills, and a strong international experience in shipping which is required for this job”, says Kristian Mørch, Chief Operating Officer of Maersk Tankers.

Robert Uggla has been with the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group since 2004 and comes from a job as head of Maersk Line in UAE, Oman and Qatar with base in Dubai.

“The tanker industry is new to me and I am looking forward to working with Broström. It will be my number one priority to further expand Broström’s competitive position by continuing to offer a safe and superior worldwide service to our customers. The industry is facing rough seas, but with our large, modern and homogenous fleet, combined with our skilled and dedicated employees, we aspire to become the best service provider in our segment”, says Robert Uggla.

Background information:

The combination of Maersk Tankers and Broström forms the world's leading product tanker company with about 275 product tankers currently trading, of which about 145 vessels are owned and long term chartered. If all segments are included, crude, product and gas vessels, the combined fleet is above 300 vessels plus another 50 vessels on order.

Robert Uggla holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics, with exchange studies at Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi, and has pursued executive education at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He comes from a position in Maersk Line as Cluster Manager of UAE, Oman and Qatar.
